start of song

It was an open book -
across this city, in our hands we took
pictures of a world, with love inside -
stuck them in a book on pages, side by side.

Up in Hampstead, we read in the park -
sometimes we'd walk through Soho after dark,
of all the things to find in all the world,
I knew I'd found someone with who I could share it all.

But we cannot sit sadly beside one another.
If we are not getting better,
gotta take all the things we are yet to do
work on ourselves to make it through.
I know we can get there, with one another -
And we will be getting better,
just gotta take all the things we couldn't do
work on them and we can make it through.

I took you to the place near Waterloo,
they gave us free shots, as if they knew
it was Christmastime and getting cold,
early days letting our love unfold.

And though right now, it may be hard to see
give it time, let's grow and it will be -
I saw you yesterday, you look so good
you wore your hair back, and so proud you stood.

But we cannot sit sadly beside one another.
If we are not getting better,
gotta take all the things we are yet to do
work on ourselves to make it through.
I know we can get there, with one another -
And we will be getting better,
just gotta take all the things we couldn't do
work on them and we can make it through.

What we lost,
was in ourselves -
we can find
happiness as well.

And I know we won't sit sadly beside one another.
We are getting better,
gotta take all the things we are yet to do
work on ourselves to make it through.
I know we can get there, with one another -
And we will be getting better,
just gotta take all the things we couldn't do
work on them and we can make it through.
