Alice laughed and squeezed my hand as she did
in the most intimate of times, when she knew that what she wanted to express to
me couldn’t be expressed in words, and sometimes couldn’t even be described.
She would, very deliberately, squeeze a little on my hand and I’d squeeze back
to let her know that I got it. It was an unspoken thing that we did. I guess,
it was out of love.
Where
I was actually looking for was – in fact – right next to us, down another
little path. And I announced our arrival to Alice. She looked out at the view
to her left, and exclaimed:
—It’s beautiful.
We
both went up the little structure that they have there, which made me feel
dizzy everytime I looked up or over the side. Alice took a couple of pictures
and I showed her all where different things were around the city. Afterwards,
we sat on the wall, side-on to the city, and the sunlight brought a glow to her
cheek. Her dark, South American hair shining in the light of the day.
